Classic Age Group Policy

Beginning with the 2026–2027 season, Maryland State Youth Soccer Association (MSYSA) and nearly all affiliated leagues are transitioning from birth-year teams to school-year (scholastic) age groups. To allow for opportunities for MSI Classic teams to play in travel tournaments, MSI is aligning both the Travel program and Classic league with this change of age group rules.

Age Groups for Fall 2026-Spring 2027

  • Classic U9 Age Group

    • Players born between August 1, 2017 and July 31, 2018.
    • The cut-off date is July 31, aligning with US Soccer guidelines effective fall 2026 for all age groups.

  • Classic U10 Age Group

    • Players born between August 1, 2016 and July 31, 2017.
    • The cut-off date is July 31, aligning with US Soccer guidelines effective fall 2026 for all age groups.

  • Classic U11 Age Group

    • Players born between August 1, 2015 and July 31, 2016.
    • The cut-off date is July 31, aligning with US Soccer guidelines effective fall 2026 for all age groups.

  • Classic U12 Age Group

    • Players born between August 1, 2014 and July 31, 2015. 
    • The cut-off date is July 31, aligning with US Soccer guidelines effective fall 2026 for all age groups.

  • Classic U13 Age Group

    • Players born between August 1, 2013 and July 31, 2014. 
    • The cut-off date is July 31, aligning with US Soccer guidelines effective fall 2026 for all age groups.

  • Classic U14 Age Group

    • Players born between August 1, 2012 and July 31, 2013. 
    • The cut-off date is July 31, aligning with US Soccer guidelines effective fall 2026 for all age groups.

  • Classic U15 Age Group

    • Players born between August 1, 2011 and July 31, 2012. 
    • The cut-off date is July 31, aligning with US Soccer guidelines effective fall 2026 for all age groups.

  • Classic U16 Age Group

    • Players born between August 1, 2010 and July 31, 2011. 
    • The cut-off date is July 31, aligning with US Soccer guidelines effective fall 2026 for all age groups.

  • Classic U17 Age Group

    • Players born between August 1, 2009 and July 31, 2010. 
    • The cut-off date is July 31, aligning with US Soccer guidelines effective fall 2026 for all age groups.

  • Classic U18 Age Group

    • Players born between August 1, 2008 and July 31, 2009. 
    • The cut-off date is July 31, aligning with US Soccer guidelines effective fall 2026 for all age groups.
