What’s a Youth Game Leader (YGL)?
YGLs enthusiastically manage 1st-grade soccer games for MSI’s Recreation Program. They help our young players have fun, play safely, and learn soccer basics.
What are the requirements for being a YGL?
- Be a high school student or have previously worked as a YGL
- Have one season of soccer-playing experience
- Knowledge of basic soccer rules
How do you become a YGL?
- Apply and pass a short online test via PlayMetrics.
- Attend a 30-minute online orientation session
- Attend a 45-minute on-field training session
When do YGLs work?
After completing all requirements, YGLs are eligible to sign up for games via SignUpGenius. YGL’s choose which slots work best for their schedules, pending availability.
Traditionally, most 1st grade games take place on Saturdays at both Herbert Hoover Middle School and Robert Frost Middle School. YGL’s don’t have to work every Saturday, but working many Saturdays is desirable.
