Who participates in the Winter League?

The MSI Winter League is for any Classic and Recreation team within MSI as well as any MSYSA or VYSA-affiliated Travel team. Teams can be made up of any age-appropriate player that is registered with the MSI Classic or Recreation programs, or any player that can show proof of current registration with a state-affiliated club.

League Formats

The age bracket of divisions is determined based on the number of teams registered, but will not be combined with more than one year older. Recreation, Classic and Travel teams will be in separate divisions where possible, unless requested otherwise. All teams will play 7 games over the winter, with an 8th game added if the season ends in January.


Scores and standings will not be kept – the MSI Winter League is an opportunity to continue to play outdoor 'normal' soccer over the winter, without designated practices, to focus on player development, not concentrate on results.

League Fees

  • U9-U10 /3rd-4th Grade: $820 per team
  • U11-U12 /5th-6th Grade: $870 per team
  • U13 /7th Grade and older: $900 per team


Discounts available for multi-team registration.

  • $350 for 4+ teams, 
  • $700 for 8+ teams, 
  • $1,000 for 12+ teams


The price is per team, paying by check.  Add an additional 3% for credit card transaction fees or 1.9% for bank transfer fees. Payment must be received by the registration deadline; November 10.

Winter League Dates

  • Registration Deadline is November 16
  • Schedules will be posted by November 25. Games will be played the weekends of;
  • December 6, 13, 20
  • January 10, 17, 24, 31
  • February 7
  • Weekends of February 14 and 21 are reserved in case of weather-related postponements, with the weekend of February 28 the absolute latest any games will be played if bad weather postpones three weekends.
  • Teams should anticipate games being scheduled over MLK Weekend (January 17-18) and if necessary, President’s Day (February 14-15).
  • Games will be scheduled to kick-off between approximately 9:00am and 6:00pm, Saturday and Sunday.
  • Some games may be played on Friday evening if necessary.

Rosters Rules

Players are required to be registered, but no rosters need to be presented on game day and players can play for multiple age-appropriate teams. Rosters can be copied from previous MSI leagues and events. Players can be added to your roster during the winter. All players new to MSI need to sign and upload the player registration waiver, downloadable as part of the registration process. [and available here? Attached if you can upload for people to download] There is no limit on the number of players that can play for your team, nor the number of teams a player can join during the Winter League, so long as they do not exceed the age group requirements.

Refund Policy

Refund Policy: All reasonable efforts will be made to reschedule any games canceled by the MSI League due to weather or other conditions within the stated seasonal calendar (through the end of February). There will be no refunds for team cancelations, forfeits, or postponements. Refunds will be given in full prior to the start of the season if MSI is unable to provide an appropriate division for your team based on age, gender, or level of play.
