First Grade Coaches Orientation and Clinic
The MSI First Grade Coaches Clinic is mandatory for all new first grade coaches and highly recommended for returning coaches. In addition to an introduction to the fundamentals of 4v4 soccer and the first grade program model, the clinic will be loaded with useful tips on practice organization, attention getting techniques, skills instruction for the first grade player, and fun games that will make your players excited to come to every practice!! There is no fee or registration required to attend the First Grade Coaches Orientation and Clinic. Coaches should bring a pen and paper, an inflated soccer ball in good condition and appropriate soccer attire including sneakers and shin guards. Participation is encouraged but not required.

2nd Grade Coaches Clinic: Coaching the U8 Player
The 2nd Grade Coaching Clinic is mandatory for all MSI 2nd grade coaches and open to all MSI coaches.
This session will cover the basic principles of coaching U-8 (2nd grade) players including a review of the structure of MSI 2nd grade soccer, practice organization, attention-getting techniques, and the basic principles of small sided soccer. It will also include loads of small sided practice games that will make your players excited to come to every practice. A significant amount of time will be dedicated to explaining the rules and the 7v7 game model used in the spring. There is no fee or registration required to attend the clinic. Coaches should bring a pen and paper and come prepared to participate (bring a properly inflated soccer ball in good condition and appropriate soccer attire including sneakers and shin guards for the indoor clinic.) Participation is encouraged but not required.

Laws of the Game Clinic
This clinic covers the FIFA Laws of the Game and MSI modifications in an easy-to-follow manner. It is open to all MSI coaches and mandatory for all NEW MSI coaches of players in grades 3-12. There is no registration or fee required to attend the Laws of the Game Clinic. Just bring a notebook and pen and be ready to learn.

Systems of Play Clinic: Transitioning to 7v7, 8v8 and 9v9 Play
This clinic is especially recommended for all 3rd grade coaches and open to coaches in all grades!
This session will cover the basic principles of coaching U-9/Older (3rd grade/Older) players including review of the structure of MSI 3rd grade/Older programs, practice organization, attention-getting techniques, the basic principles of 7v7, 8v8, 9v9 soccer and the introduction of goalkeepers into play. It is open to all MSI coaches, and there is no fee or registration required to attend. Coaches should bring a pen and paper and are welcome to participate (bring a properly inflated soccer ball in good condition and appropriate soccer attire including sneakers and shin guards).

Classic Coaching Course
The Classic Coaching Course is a 3 day course that is presented Friday evening, all day Saturday, and all day Sunday. The Friday/Saturday components focus on teaching the basics for working with children, emphasizing the guided discovery method of coaching. Individual techniques and skills demonstrated include short passing, ball control, screening and turning with the ball, winning the ball, and movement skills/speed. Basic tactical concepts are also covered. The Sunday component is devoted to technical and tactical uses of small-sided games, the study of systems of play, and a practice teaching component. Participants are given an opportunity to conduct a training session on an assigned topic and are assessed by the course instructor.
Please note that this course is welcome to all coaches but that MSI heavily subsidizes the registration cost for MSI coaches!!

The registration fee for all coaches is $160. For coaches within MSI programs, MSI subsidizes that cost down to only $40 in order to encourage and facilitate the continuing education of our coaching community. During registration, classic coaches should be certain to select the credit to reduce the fee to $40.
